PHILOSOPHY OF ARCHITECTURE
“Software for wedding filmmakers should feel like an impeccably crafted Leica, not an airport terminal plastered with foreign advertisements and extortionate paywalls.”

Founder & Software Architect, Pholume • India
Ex-Hewlett-Packard Operations Management • Conceived with Siara Film (Ahmedabad)
The Frontline Operations Education
My professional foundation was not forged in abstract Silicon Valley software theory. It was built in the real operational trenches: managing customer care and high-volume operations for global technology leaders, including Hewlett-Packard.
Managing customer operations teaches you an unforgiving discipline: you live and die by strict service-level agreements, root-cause diagnostics, and defect-rate prevention. But above all, it teaches you human empathy. Behind every failed ticket and angry escalation is an exhausted human being let down by careless software.
That operational rigour became the foundational bedrock when I began architecting Pholume. When software crashes in a corporate office, someone files an internal IT ticket. When software fails a wedding cinematographer on delivery day, a family's once-in-a-lifetime heritage is put at risk. I built Pholume with the belief that creative software must be as reliable as mission-critical enterprise infrastructure.
The Spark: October 2025
The genesis of Pholume occurred in October 2025 during a conversation with a close friend: the founder of Siara Film, an independent wedding cinema studio based in Ahmedabad, who was introduced to me by a colleague and became part of my inner circle.
He saw the operational systems I was building and stopped me. He poured out the daily, silent frustration of running a luxury studio in India:
- Delivery Shame: Delivering multi-lakh rupee cinematic wedding films through raw Google Drive folders or expiring WeTransfer links that felt like generic corporate spreadsheets.
- Monday Culling Fatigue: Editors losing eight hours every Monday night manually cross-referencing hundreds of photo numbers (DSC_0421, DSC_0580) typed into chaotic WhatsApp chats.
- Foreign Currency Friction: Paying $40 to $50 US Dollars every single month for Western gallery platforms, only to deal with recurring Reserve Bank of India credit card auto-debit declines.
- Punishing Storage Penalties: Software platforms charging punishing storage tier jumps the moment his team uploaded full-resolution RAW photographs and 4K ceremony edits.
Indian wedding cinema had reached international fine-art standards, yet its business backbone was trapped in operational chaos.
The Commercial Philosophy: No Gated Features
In legacy software, companies play an artificial gatekeeping game: locking Lightroom integration, custom typography, or invoicing behind expensive “Enterprise” tiers.
I found this fundamentally disrespectful to the artist. Whether a photographer is shooting five intimate ceremonies a year or managing twenty multi-camera destination weddings, their need for operational order is identical.
Every studio tool is included across every tier from Day One.
Zero enterprise gating. Zero add-on unlocks. Zero surprise utility fees.
We do not charge you for software features. What you pay us is an honest utility fee to manage your high-speed cloud computing and zero-egress edge storage. If you store 5 GB with our Aperture Pass, you pay zero rupees. If you store 150 GB with our Heritage Master tier, you pay 599 rupees a month. In every plan, you hold the complete, uncompromised studio operating system.
The 10% Memory Vault Flywheel: Software That Funds Itself
In the legacy model, every wedding delivered is a recurring storage liability for the studio. After delivery, photographers face an impossible choice: absorb mounting cloud storage costs forever, or delete the couple's memories after 60 days.
We inverted this broken economic model with the Client Memory Vault:
- Couples purchase permanent or 5-year Memory Vaults (499 rupees per year or 1,499 rupees for 5 years) to safeguard their high-resolution archive forever.
- Ten percent of every client renewal is automatically credited toward your studio subscription.
- One hundred percent of the storage quota used by that gallery is instantly recycled back to your studio for new commissions.
If ten to twelve couples preserve their wedding archives each season, your studio's annual Pholume subscription is completely funded by your clients. Software transforms from an ongoing operational expense into a self-funding asset.
The Four Sovereign Rejections
1. Zero Biometric Harvesting
In strict compliance with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023, we refuse to turn wedding guests into an AI facial recognition experiment. Your couples' family memories are never scanned, indexed, or used for machine learning.
2. Zero Foreign Currency Friction
Billed natively in Indian Rupees via UPI AutoPay, Net Banking, and Indian cards, with formal GST SAC 9983 tax invoices for your studio input tax credits.
3. The Never-Delete Guarantee
Lapsed subscriptions during monsoon off-seasons soft-lock new uploads, but existing client galleries and edge files are never deleted.
4. Zero Artificial Paywalls
You will never be asked to upgrade to an enterprise tier to unlock Lightroom selection, gear shutter tracking, or custom serif typography.
THE CHRONICLE OF PHOLUME
From Problem Definition to Live OS
OCTOBER 2025
The Ahmedabad Spark & Problem Definition
The Reality: Deep exploration with the founder of Siara Film in Ahmedabad exposes the four structural breakdowns in Indian studio delivery: Google Drive delivery shame, Monday culling fatigue, foreign-currency billing friction, and bandwidth penalties.
The Decision: Pholume is conceived as an end-to-end connected workspace with zero feature gating.
JANUARY 2026
The Unboxed Visual Silence Standard
The Reality: Initial prototypes looked like standard Silicon Valley software: cluttered cards, neon badges, and generic templates.
The Shift: We scrapped the templates and committed to Visual Silence: 13 bespoke serif typography themes inspired by fine-art print monographs, designed to let the photography command the room without software clutter.
MAY 2026
The Zero-Throttle Edge Network
The Reality: Legacy platforms rely on outdated storage models that charge heavy bandwidth egress fees whenever clients download photos, forcing platforms to compress files or cap download speeds.
The Shift: We engineered Pholume on a modern, high-speed edge distribution network with zero download surcharges. Couples can stream full-resolution ZIP archives as often as they want with zero compression and zero hidden fees.
JULY 2026
The 1-Click Lightroom Bridge & Studio Operations Suite
The Reality: Studio editors were losing entire Mondays matching photo numbers from WhatsApp messages back into desktop catalogues.
The Shift: We shipped the 1-Click Adobe Lightroom Classic Bridge, allowing client selections to highlight RAW files in the desktop catalogue instantly. Concurrently, we launched the Hardware Gear Locker (camera shutter actuation tracking) and Crew Call Sheets with GPS venue links.
SEPTEMBER 2026
The Client Memory Vault Flywheel & The Founding Cohort
The Reality: Indian families value wedding memories as multi-generational heirlooms, yet conventional galleries expire after months.
The Shift: We launched the Client Memory Vault (499 rupees per year or 1,499 rupees for 5 years) with its signature 10% studio renewal flywheel. When clients preserve their archive, the studio receives automatic subscription credits and their active storage quota is 100% recycled. Concurrently, we opened our Founding Studios Cohort (#001 to #025) to welcome 25 respected Indian studios with permanent founding privileges.
On the Studio Workbench (What We Are Forging Next)
1. Flush-Mount Album Spread Proofing
Dedicated two-page spread proofing with pin revision markers for physical Karishma and Canvera wedding albums, eliminating PDF emails.
2. Native WhatsApp Business Delivery Bridge
Automated delivery of branded showroom links and private client PINs straight from the studio dashboard to bride and groom WhatsApp chats.

A personal promise from Sallon Lepcha, Founder of Pholume
“Every new operational tool, workflow integration, and showroom typography theme we forge in the months and seasons ahead will automatically be unlocked for your studio at zero additional cost.
We will never invent an artificial ‘Enterprise Tier’ to lock away our future work. We will never charge you add-on fees for new features.
We charge only an honest utility fee for the high-speed edge storage and cloud computing your imagery consumes. The entire operating system belongs to you: today, tomorrow, and always.”
